If you’re new around here, you may not be aware of my painted china cabinet obsession. If you have been around a while, you may be tired of hearing of said obsession.
There’s this one painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
and this one in high gloss white
and this fella in Kelly green (which is easily my favorite)…
At any rate, I have a black painted china cabinet beauty to share with you:)
Black Painted China Cabinet
The Details

- Sanded entire piece with 220
- Sprayed shellac base primer to seal the wood
- Sanded shellac primer up to 320
- Sprayed Fine Paints of Europe oil undercoat primer in black (factory tinted black primer=mind blowing)
- After first coat of primer dried 24 hours, sprayed 2nd coat of black oil primer
- Sanded oil primer up to 800 grit using this sander
- Sprayed first coat of Fine Paints of Europe Hollandlac Satin in black (this is the spray gun I use)
- Allowed 48 hours to dry, sprayed 2nd coat
- Attached this fabulous fabric by hot gluing the perimeter of the fabric to the wood
- Polished brass hardware with this magic stuff!

Mmm-mmm, I just love it so much. That swan print fabric makes me swoon.
This was my first time using Fine Paints’ satin sheen. I can’t articulate how great their paint is. It’s something you just have to experience. As woo woo as that may sound, it’s simply the truth. I’ll definitely be using satin black again!
