If you’ve been searching for a beautiful warm white for your kitchen cabinets, Benjamin Moore’s Simply White is a must-have for consideration. It’s clean and crisp without being cold or harsh. Learn all about this color to see if it’s right for your home.
Nothing is as timeless – or as complicated – as white paint. But wait! White’s just…white, right?
No. No it isn’t. White is one of the most complex and difficult colors to choose when picking paint colors.
I mean, have you ever tried staring at 5 or 6 different white paint swatches on your wall at the same time? It’s enough to make anyone’s eyes start to cross!
That’s why when it comes to whites, I prefer to stick with the classics. Clean, soft-off whites are my jam for that color family, and I have one of the most popular white paints to show you today. It’s time to check out one of my favorites: Simply White from Benjamin Moore!
We’ll chat about important topics such as its undertones, colors that pair well with it, and show some examples of this lovely off-white in different kitchens so you can see just how incredible it looks for yourself. 😁
There’s just so much to appreciate about this color, which is why it’s on my list of favorite colors for kitchen cabinets. It’s light (hello, LRV of 91.7!), bright, crisp, clean, and warm. Basically, it’s everything you want in a beautiful white paint.
Undertones For Simply White
Whites can be TOUGH to choose because they often have some subtle (or not so subtle) undertones. They may not always show themselves right away, but believe me. They’re THERE. And, they usually show up when you least expect them to.
This particular shade from Benjamin Moore has a soft yellow undertone. When you look at the color, it looks white and acts white. You may not even see any yellow at all. But remember, it is there.
What this color lacks is gray undertones. That means it’s a clean, warm off-white that will look just a taaaaaad yellow in certain lighting situations. But believe me…no one would ever call it yellow.
For example, in a room with warm, southern light, you’ll probably notice a little bit of the yellow from time to time. On the other hand, in a north-facing room that has cool light, it might not appear at all.
Lighting makes a difference!
Not sure which undertones white paints have? The best way to figure that out is to hold (large) swatches of them up right next to each other. It becomes very evident when you do that!
Shades That Pair Well With Benjamin Moore’s Simply White
It’s time to point out some coordinating colors that naturally pair well with this soft white.
Here’s the thing about white: generally speaking, it looks great with every color. That said, not every white will pair well with every shade. That’s where the white’s undertones come into play!
This shade isn’t super choosy. It truly plays well with most colors, including yellows, blues, greens, reds, warm grays, beiges, browns, and warm greiges.
Almost everyone can play in the sandbox with it – everyone except other whites. A popular palette trend right now is to layer different shades of white. Unfortunately, when it comes to pairing with other whites, the yellow undertones in this shade can sometimes stick out like a (mismatched) sore thumb.
That doesn’t mean that it won’t pair well with ANY white. It simply means that you need to carefully check the undertones of any and all whites you want to use against those found in this color.
For example, I’ve painted plenty of cabinets this shade that worked very well with white countertops. But, you can’t just guess if it will or won’t…you have to swatch!
By the way, make sure to pick your countertops first, then sample your paint after the counters are installed. If you don’t, you are making one of the biggest cabinet painting mistakes out there. Trust me; it will save you so much heartache!

Can’t make this shade work for your cabinets? Why not paint your walls Simply White instead? DIY Decor Mom shows off her eat-in area that has lots of natural cool light. That doesn’t stop this shade from looking amazing and not at all cold.
Drool-Worthy Kitchens
This painted coastal kitchen from Life on Virginia Street gives me all the feels! I am in love with the crisp white kitchen set off by that pop of blue on the island and dark floors. It’s the perfect amount of light and bright without being blinding or feeling cold.
This Simply White kitchen from This is Our Bliss naturally has much less light filtering in, so this paint color is a great choice for the cabinets here. They read clean, neutral white here thanks to the lighting and that amazing green island that tamps down any hints of yellow.
This white is terrific for small or dark kitchens because the light, warm shade makes the room feel bigger and brighter. Jennifer Rizzo redid this kitchen and painted the cabinets with this shade. Add some brass hardware, and the end result is gorgeous!
Oh my, these cabinets shine against the turquoise walls! Painting the cabinets Simply White transformed this kitchen from The Turquoise Home and brightened it up tremendously.
Now, do you see why I think this is one of the best cabinet colors? It pairs well with almost every color! Avoid some whites, and you’ll be totally fine.
This shade is a fresh, stunning white that reads very light but also warm. Make a couple of swatches and check to see if it’s that perfect color you’ve been missing.
