Anyone out there love Before & After photos? Awesome, me too! I wanted to share with you the kitchen remodel we did in our last house. On the remodel scale, this one was really minimal.
The bones were great, it mainly just needed a face lift. We had Home Depot install Corian counter tops, and my brother installed the glass and marble mosaic tile backsplash (it came from Lowe’s).
A local contractor removed the wall that separated the kitchen and dining room and added an eating bar area. He also removed a weird cabinet unit that housed the microwave and 1980’s era intercom system on the left side of the fridge.
I painted the cabinets and replaced the hardware. New light fixtures and appliances finished up the space.
We sold this house in the Fall of 2013, and I still miss this kitchen a lot! It functioned so well, and I loved how bright it was!
I’ll go ahead and apologize for the poor quality of the before photos. These were the MLS photos from the house when we purchased it. I didn’t have the foresight enough to take my own before photos when we bought the house in early 2011!
Removing the wall was the BEST design decision I made in that house. Totally a no-brainer! Once it was gone, it opened up the whole floor plan! Best money spent in that house:)
Huge difference right?! I had a lot of fun pulling the new kitchen finishes together. I really tried to stay true to my personal design preferences all while keeping in mind re-sale. I’ll keep adding some before and after photos of this house in the next few days, so I hope you’ll come back! Thanks for reading and have a great weekend, friends!!

Love this!! Where did you find the hardware for your cabinets?
Kayla says
Thanks Teresa, I ordered it from myknobs.com I cannot for the life of me remember the style name though (we sold the house in 2014 so it’s been a little while). I do remember being happy with their service….fast shipping and a really decent price point! xo

VERY IMPRESSED! Your hard work is the BEST example of a kitchen refresh/remodel that I have ever seen.
I just posted the following on your Hometalk page: OMG how a very smart use of paint and elbow grease must have increased the sale price of that home! I’m so inspired by the recessed lights you added to the soffits. (But how could you part with that colonial plate rail? LOL)

Thanks Rena! I also just replied to your comment of hometalk! Thanks so much for coming by!! Xo

Hi, this is absolutely beautiful! I am wondering if you have a close up pict. that displays the soffit and the trim combined. I really like the looks of this, it is different and has great lighting.

Hi Joann! I wish I had a closer photo for you but I don’t:( there were florecent lights in the soffit so we just removed those and had an electrician/handyman install Sheetrock in the existing cut outs where the florecent lights were and then he added small can lights.
