Are you looking for a new kitchen cabinet paint color? How does a warm greige that’s light, but not too light, with a touch of gray sound? We’re diving into Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige to learn all about it, including its undertones and other colors that pair well with it.
I love greige paint colors. In fact, they’re some of my favorite colors to use on kitchen cabinets because they always seem to find that happy medium between gray (can easily be too dark) and beige (hello, “builder’s beige” paint colors of the early 2000s).
A good greige finds that ideal neutral balance and doesn’t display any strong undertones. And, Accessible Beige is a good greige. One of the greats, actually!
I know this color has the word “beige” in the name, but don’t get stuck on that. It doesn’t have strong gold undertones thanks to the gray that peeks through. It’s a true greige that strikes a terrific balance between the two color families. You won’t ever find it looking too gray or too beige.
Determining A Paint’s Brightness
One of the things that anyone interested in using this color needs to keep in mind is the LRV (Light Reflective Value which ranges from 0 – 100). It’s an indicator of how light or dark a paint color is. A value of 0 is perfectly black, while a value of 100 is perfectly white.
When you see a color on a wall, its level of lightness or darkness is a subjective value partially based on the amount of lighting present within the room. Knowing the LRV of different colors is important because it gives an objective way to evaluate a color’s level of brightness.
Accessible Beige has an LRV of 58, which puts it in the “light” range without being a bright color. In fact, this popular paint color presents as soft and subtle – even almost creamy at times.
And when it comes to kitchen cabinets, I often prefer soft and subtle in order to allow fixtures and other accent pieces the chance to shine. Your kitchen cabinets have never looked as good as they will when look painted in this very popular color!
Undertones For Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige
When working with paint colors in the gray and beige families, there are always undertones to work with (or avoid!). Most often we’re talking about green, purple, or blue.
This popular greige is highly used by both interior designers and homeowners because its undertones are subtle. It has definite gray undertones which soften the beige as well as a slight green undertone.
Trust me, the green is ever so slight. You’ll notice it if you’re really looking for it or next to green decor pieces, but you won’t step into a room and say “Wow, those cabinets are green.”.
Because of its beige base and gray undertones, Accessible Beige can shift easily between the two colors in different lighting situations. This quality makes it a truly neutral color that’s perfect for many different situations.
Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige vs. Agreeable Gray
These two colors are very similar but opposites of each other. Where Accessible Beige is a warmer, earthier gray-tinged beige, Agreeable Gray is a beige-tinged gray.
Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige vs. SW Edgecomb Gray
SW Accessible Beige has more beige and brown in it than Edgecomb Gray does. With an LRV of 63, Edgecomb Gray is slightly lighter than AB from Sherwin Williams.
Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige vs. BM Revere Pewter
It can be hard to compare two personal favorite colors to each other. Revere Pewter is possibly Benjamin Moore’s equivalent as the beige-gray color of choice and in popularity. It also happens to be the color I painted my own cabinets, and it’s slightly darker and cooler than Accessible Beige with a purple undertone.
How Lighting Impacts The Appearance of Accessible Beige
No matter what color you’re considering for which room of the house, the lighting will impact the way it looks. Colors may appear darker, lighter, or show stronger undertones in different lighting situations.
Here’s how this color will appear in different types of light.
South-Facing Light
In south-facing rooms, you can expect Accessible Beige to present as a soft, neutral beige with a tinge of gray. In this lighting, you may occasionally see a slight green undertone.
North-Facing Light
Thanks to the cooler light in the north, Accessible Gray will look slightly more gray in these situations.
Pair These Shades With SW Accessible Beige
Thanks to its neutrality, Accessible Beige can play nice with several different colors. This earthy color pairs exceptionally well with natural, muted colors such as creams as well as blues, greens, and browns.
However, I recommend staying away from bright, vibrant colors when working with this paint.
Pair it with:

Examples Of Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige Cabinets
Thanks to its versatility and neutrality, this color is a great choice for just about any style of house or decor. It’s a color that will easily bridge the gap between dark wood floors and stainless steel appliances, which is why it looks so good on kitchen cabinets.
Here are a few examples of Accessible Beige on cabinets.
Cherry Cabinet Makeover
These dark cherry cabinets were painted Accessible Beige to create a gorgeous light, creamy updated look from Maria Killam. AB pairs perfectly with the earthy tone of the flooring and walls of the neighboring room.
Bright Natural Light
Accessible Beige cabinets in a naturally bright kitchen look bright, almost off-white. I don’t think any better color could have been chosen to pair with the taupe-green walls and wood floors. This kitchen from Bella Tucker is stunning.
Perfect Pairing For Wood Flooring
Thanks to Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige’s earthy, almost creamy qualities, this color is perfect for kitchen cabinets in a kitchen that has wood flooring. Honey oak-colored wood flooring, which can be hard to pair with paint colors, looks incredible with AB like this example from Bella Tucker.
Is SW Accessible Beige Right For Your Cabinets?
Few greige paints are as neutral and beautiful as Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige. That’s why it’s one of my top go-to cabinet paint colors!
However, just like other paint colors, it can look different in various lighting situations. Make sure to create a large color swatch and check it in different lighting levels throughout the day before committing.
