Looking for the perfect soft pink paint color for your next makeover? Whether you’re painting walls, cabinets or a piece of furniture, Sherwin Williams Blushing is one of the sweetest and most charming shades of light blush out there. In this post, I’ll show you how this dresser painted in Sherwin Williams Blushing went from tired and unassuming to totally charming!
The Before
When I first saw this chest of drawers for sale on Facebook Marketplace, I knew it would be a perfect piece to buy, paint then flip for profit. Vintage furniture is typically constructed of higher quality materials than new furniture. That’s why these older pieces are still in such great shape! Because they’re made of solid wood and wood veneered plywood instead of particle board like the furniture of today.
The hardware had sweet brass bow and ribbon details which told me that painting this for a little girl’s room would be perfect.
Choosing A Color
Choosing a paint color when you don’t have anything to base that choice on can be tricky! Since I didn’t have a customer to tell me what color they wanted nor did I have a fabric or wallpaper or wall color to match/coordinate with, I was essentially pulling a color out of thin air.
When picking colors out of thin air, I try to play it safe and choose an option that isn’t too bright or too saturated. Muted, softer hues tend to appeal to more people versus the bold, bright and highly saturated shades. Also, the last time I chose a soft shade of blush for this piece of furniture, it sold very quickly and gained a lot of engagement from my social media! So I already knew that shades of soft blush paint colors were a hit!
So I thumbed through my Sherwin Williams paint fan deck to see which colors caught my eye. When I landed on SW Blushing 6617, I knew it was the one.
Pro Tip: Always sample your paint colors before committing! Don’t ever buy paint based off of pictures you’ve seen on a computer screen. Just trust me, sampling your paint colors will save you so much headache! The easiest way I’ve found to sample colors is to order them from Sampelize. They’re 12″x12″ samples of REAL actual paint on an adhesive backing that you can peel and stick multiple times. It’s genius. You never have to mess with sample quarts ever again. Hallelujah!
The Painting Process
For this piece, I chose to use a paint called Sherwin Williams Industrial Enamel. It’s an oil base paint that has (what they call) a gloss sheen. Truth be told…it’s not all that glossy. It’s more like what I would consider a semi gloss sheen. ((If you’d like to see some real, glossy paint, you should check out some of my other furniture posts where I use a paint called Hollandlac Brilliant by Fine Paints of Europe – This piece in pink, this one in green, this one in navy!))

The After
This piece turned out so adorable! I think Blushing by Sherwin Williams was the perfect paint color choice to accent all of the feminine details of this chest of drawers😍
Isn’t it so sweet?! And the best ending to the story, a lady from New Jersey bought it just a couple days after I listed it for sale:) I always love to hear from readers, leave me a comment and say hi!
