If you’ve been searching for the perfect cabinet color, you may have just found it! Sherwin Williams Dover White is a beautiful not-too-white yet not-too-creamy color, which makes it perfect for your kitchen cabinets. We’ve used this paint color several times before, and each time, we love it more and more. Come and take a peek at these kitchen cabinets and their much-needed facelift.
Here we are… back at it again and painting some more kitchen cabinets.
This week, we are repainting some more oak cabinets in Sherwin Williams Dover White (6385)! I’m so excited to show y’all how they turned out. It looks amazing in this kitchen.
Before we jump into it, here are a few questions I frequently get about this paint color.
What is the LRV of Dover White?
The LRV, or light reflectance value, of Sherwin Williams Dover White, is 83. It’s a great option if you are looking to really lighten a room and make it nice and bright as it really tends to absorb light.
LRVs are helpful for figuring out how much of a color will show in different lighting environments. The higher the number, the more reflective and bright the paint will be; conversely, lower numbers mean that colors won’t show as well under dim lights.
LRVs can help you find which whites work best with your space’s decor so that you’re not left disappointed when your favorite white doesn’t produce desired results after all!
Tip: If you are looking for a few more options for the best off-white colors to paint your kitchen cabinets, check out this helpful guide I put together just for you! My most requested color (besides this one) is Sherwin Williams Alabaster.
Is Dover White cool or warm?
Dover White is a neutral color with warm undertones. Depending on which way the room is facing, it can sometimes show a little bit of a yellow undertone.
What color goes with Dover White from Sherwin Williams?
When it comes to painting kitchen cabinets in Dover White, people often ask themselves what color they should paint their walls. You may have heard that you should use a lighter shade than your cabinet and wall color for the trim. This is because light colors create an illusion of space and make rooms look bigger.
Lucky you, there are plenty of colors that look great with Sherwin Williams Dover White!
It goes really well with any light blue, green, or yellow color. If you’re looking for a more muted option, I would recommend pairing it with Sea Salt from Sherwin Williams as well.
How do I know if this is the right cabinet color?
If you want something crisp and clean with a touch of warmth to give your kitchen space some life while still feeling neutral–this is a perfect choice!
Dover White cabinets come alive in natural sunlight and they reflect beautifully off their surroundings-in other words, there’s no easier way to create drama than by painting your cabinets white. You’ll be blown away when you see how amazing these beauties look when they are done!
Sherwin Williams Dover White Cabinets: Before & After
Take a look at this before and after. This homeowner wanted to do something with the oak kitchen cabinets because they were looking old, but didn’t want to spend all of their time redoing them.
So, what did we do? We painted them!
Here’s what the kitchen looked like before the remodel…
… Here’s what it looks like after we painted using SW Dover White!
Can you even believe that before and after?!
Of course, we can only take credit for the cabinet painting! This huge remodel is credited to a local carpenter/construction crew.
Note: If you’re local to 72601 and need the name of a great contractor, let me know and I can hook you up with his contact info. They did a great job!
With the right paintbrush, your kitchen can be transformed into something cozy and inviting! Dover White is not your typical creamy off-white, giving your kitchen cabinets that pop of brightness you are looking for.

I totally agree with you about Dover White! It is the best white, especially for cabinets. This kitchen is amazing!
Do you by chance know what the ceiling color is?
Kayla says
It’s just flat white ceiling paint.

I am going to have my oak cabinets painted Dover White. What is the wall color you used? I have similar countertops and think the wall color would be a good match.
Kayla says
I’m so sorry Frances, I don’t know the wall color of this room. We only painted the cabinets here. Wish I could help you out, it is so pretty! xo
Lisa Collins says
What is the wall color please?
Thanks

Do you mind if I ask what type of Sherwin Williams paint you used? I just painted my entire kitchen cabinetry in Cyberspace- love the color but notice it’s chipping off at the edges of the cabinets in the “high traffic areas” (i.e. around cabinet pulls). I used Emerald Urethane trim enamel which both their website and the SW employee recommended. I also found it dried a little tacky. I’m now about to paint both my bathroom vanities and don’t want the same result. I”m considering doing a final top coat Minwax polucrylic protective finish to give it more durability. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!

You may have sold me on using Dover white for my cabinets. Did you go with semi-gloss or satin?
Tawanna says
What type of paint did you use on the cabinets? Satin, etc?

What a useful post! I am ordering from Barker Cabinets and their pre-finished white option is Dover and I wanted to see it. Not only do you have lovely shots, but your layout is *identical* to the kitchen I need to renovate (even the closet by the front door). You’ve given me an idea on where to put the refrigerator if I knock the wall down — is this a cape cod house?? THANK YOU

I’m trying to find the right creamy white to go with my Bliss Cappuccino Linear Mosaic backsplash and am considering Dover White. I read one post where someone was upset as it seemed way to yellow. Does it come off as very yellow?
Thank you!

Kitchen wall color??
Kayla says
Oh I’m so sorry:( I don’t know the wall color, it was already painted when I got there to do the cabinets.
Marie says
The walls could be Sherwin Williams Sand Dollar.

Is the paint semi gloss. Satin…or gloss?
Kayla says
This product has what’s called “20 sheen” but it’s comparable to a satin! xo

I am painting my kitchen cabinets this dover white currently. Did you paint the trim/baseboards and everything else that color as well? or would you? or should it be white white.
